英米文学科

論理と感性を養うイギリスやアメリカなど英語圏の文学・文化と言語の研究

文学・文化・英語学に関する深い教養をベースに

幅広い分野への対応力を養います

学科の目的

英米文学科では英語圏の文学と言語について学びます。人間の思考や感情を表現したいという欲求が文学を生み、それを可能にする媒体が言語=言葉です。英語という言語の特質を学び、英・米などの歴史と文化を背景にする文学に触れることによって、言葉に対する感受性を磨き、人間性に対する洞察が深まり、広い視野と国際感覚を身につけることができます。国家や民族を超えた人間の真実を知ること。そして豊かな教養と知性、柔軟な心を育むこと-英米文学科の教育が目指すのは、英米文学・英語学への深い理解をベースに、人間としてバランスのとれた女性を育てることです。
