Exchange Programs

Academic exchange networks have consistently cultivated an international perspective

Overseas Study Programs
Tokyo Woman's Christian University was founded as a result of international Christian cooperation. Since its inception, the University's most important educational goal has consistently been the development of international attitudes and the fostering of women who are able to play an important role in the international community. The International Exchange Center aims to promote academic and cultural exchanges with foreign universities, and educational and research institutions. Faculty and staff members of the Center provide support for students who wish to study abroad and for students from overseas studying at the University.

¡Cambridge Summer School

As part of a Collaborative Agreement made in 2005 between Tokyo Woman's Christian University and Hughes Hall, one of the colleges of Cambridge University, an academic summer school was inaugurated in 2007. The goal of the program is to provide Tokyo Woman's Christian University students with a good command of English the opportunity to broaden and deepen their knowledge at Cambridge. The students attend lectures and seminars organized by Hughes Hall and stay in the Hughes Hall dormitory. They also take part in a wide range of other activities with Cambridge University students. Tokyo Woman's Christian University and Hughes Hall have a deep, historical relationship that began when Tetsu Yasui, who later became our second President, went to Cambridge to study with Elizabeth Hughes, the first Principal of Hughes Hall. While staying at Hughes Hall, our students find themselves in an environment that encourages them to reflect on Tetsu Yasui's liberal arts philosophy that has been an integral part of our university's approach to education since its foundation.
